Bringing the best barrels to Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Nelspruit in 2018. Kicking off the 2017 national tour, the TOPS at SPAR Wine Show is back in Johannesburg, and for the first time at Montecasino, to present its 12 th spectacular “pourformance” of South Africa’s most loved wines and bubbly from 25 th – 27 th May 2017. The wonderful world of wine awaits those who crave a bit of magic and plenty of adventure.
On Saturday the 28th of May I had the opportunityto attend the TOPS at SPAR Wine Show, at Monte Casino. It was a wine filledWINEderland. The theme was a carnival wonderland, with a play on the use of theword. From start to finish the wine show was exquisitely put together, classy,fun and the variety was exceptional.
THE BEGINNING.
The show started off with registration where each person received a TOPSbranded wine glass and a SPAR shopping bag (the material kind). This was veryexciting because I am definitely the type of person who loves to have mementosand souvenirs from events, so that was a major plus for me. Then you walk intoan enclosed area filled with stalls of all the different wine connoisseurs,people doing carnival tricks and a bunch of excited wine drinkers. Then youwalk outside and there are more wine stalls, some delicious food stands and a fantasticvibe that filled the air. Back to the glasses, you could take you awesomeglasses, go to each stall and taste all the wines that were available. This couldhave been a dangerous activity if I decided to try more than I had, everythingwas so good, but then the next thing you know I could have plopsed over. HEHE…Just kidding.
THE MIDDLE
I had a lot of fun going around to all the different stallslearning more about the different kinds of wine that are out there that I admittedlydidn’t know. So not only was it a great tasting experience but it was greatlearning experience as well. One of my favourite stall was the wine and Lindtpairing. I LOVE LOVE LOVE chocolate so that was a plus, but surprisingly thepairing worked well together and I really enjoyed it. Another of my favouriteswas the “scientific” stall with the wine infused drinks that tasted like coldrinkwe absolutely devine!!!
THE END
We ended up at the tasting theatre which was very informative.Overall we had an amazing time and I thought the event was amazingly put together.I would 100%promote and attend this event again. The theatrics, the variety andthe people were amazing. There is very little actually almost nothing I could critiqueor have a negative comment about.
